Spy’s legendary two-sport athlete ramps up the MX portion of his competition year with a run at the MX1 class in Morden, Manitoba
Spy Optic privateer motocross race Tucker Hibbert is on his way up to Morden, Manitoba’s (Canada) Shadow Valley Raceway for round four of the 2009 Monster Energy CMRC Canadian MX Nationals - his first pro MX race of the season.
Hibbert, who has done well racing in Canada in the past, will use the Morden round as a tune-up of sorts as he plans on contesting five of the next seven Lucas Oil AMA MX Nationals here in the States through September.
“My goals this summer are to win this weekend in Canada and to be in the top ten in the United States,” he says. “I’m trying to keep my schedule light so I don’t get strung out. I’m racing as a privateer again so, by spacing out my races, I think I can perform better. Bottom line: If I can learn something new and have fun doing it, it will be a successful summer.”
The three-time defending Winter X Snocross champion, Hibbert will run his buddy and riding partner Kevin Windham’s signature series Spy Magneto goggles up in Canada.

Also, joining Hibbert in what should give Spy Optic the majority of top ten riders in the MX1 class’ goggle color count will be Paul Carpenter, Bob Kiniry and Jack Carpenter – Spy’s representatives on the Canadian MX National tour with the Monster Energy/Cernic’s/Kawasaki team. And here in the States Spy Optic’s Nick Wey (Boost Mobile/ampm/Monster Energy/Troy Racing) returns to action this weekend in U.S. motocross with the running of the Lakewood (Colo.) MX National on Saturday (June 27).
