Unadilla MX National

August 16th, 2010

The race this past weekend at Unadilla had amazing weather and was packed with die hard fans.

Kevin Windham crashed hard on one of the fastest parts of the track in the first moto. His bike was destroyed but he managed to escape any injuries and was able to come back strong in moto two. He charged hard the entire moto and on the last couple laps he caught his teammate Andrew Short. Kevin was relentless in the charge and made a pass on the last lap in the last corner for 4th place.

Tevin Tapia was cranking some classic whips over the famous table top at Unadilla. Tevin finished 18th first moto and 17th in the second moto but somehow got 21st overall.

Louie Vito who has been crushing the contest circuit  all year grabbing that 3rd place, and Ipod who has pretty much dominated everything grabbing the win and being crowned the winner of men’s halfpipe for the 2010 NZ open. Big shout out and congrats to both of the guys! Keep the hard work up and keep crushing it. Check out Transworld Snow for the whole story and coverage.

Spy’s Boot Camp 8

August 11th, 2010

Last week Spy celebrated the 8th annual Summer Boot Camp. For those who are not familiar with this event, its a retail contest we put on with all our accounts to give 9 lucky retailers the chance to come experience what the California dream is all about, right here in Spy’s backyard. We also give one lucky consumer winner the chance to enter and join the crew for an amazing 5 days of riding moto, surfing, wake boarding, X games, with Spy’s pro athletes. We picked all the winners up at LAX, and then headed into downtown LA for a stop at the hotel to freshen up, a cocktail or two, then off to an amazing welcoming dinner for all the winners. After a ten course meal of apps, salads, soups, main courses etc.. We all jumped in taxis and headed towards the “Fantasy Factory” for a Monster party with Rob Dyrdek. The line was long, but with street cred that Spy has we jumped into the VIP line and cruised our way in with not a worry in the world. As I am sure you ca  imagine the party was next level, tons of people, great food, free drinks, and of course a line up of hip hop artists, that for sure made peoples dreams come true. We all danced and had the times of lives early into the morning, some of the boot campers paid off the security so they could get into Rob’s office and actually ended up hanging out with him and Drama. The photos they captured are priceless! Big up boys.. You owned that night. Keep checking in for the stories of Summer Boot Camp 8, this is the intro.. There are plenty of chapters to this 5 days in paradise with Spy…

The action got under way with the Billabong Pro Women’s Wakeboard finals early. Despite a morning rainsquall, the 8 women finals kept rolling and in the end it was American Melissa Marquardt walking away with the victory. “I’m looking forward to next year – the crowds at Wakestock are sick!” reflected Marquardt on her inaugural Wakestock experience.

Up next was the 6 man final for the Malibu Boats Pro Wakeskate Championships, presented by Monster Energy and Billabong. “The weekend was rad,” claimed Roberts. “It was a super good vibe, good music and good riding. It’s sick to see so many people come out for a wake event. Definitely one of the most fun wake events of the year for sure. And I’m stoked to get my first pro win here.”
