OVERSIZED FOR YOUR PLEASURE. Enjoy this oversized break from your work day brought to you by your friends at SPY. Watch these dudes get heavy as they bring the rad.
Bear Mtn.’s annual Hot Dawgz & Handrails contest is touted as the biggest summertime snowboard event in the world and the perfect kickoff to get the masses hyped on the upcoming winter. While most of you were on the beach bronzing, surfing in red tide or sleeping off your hang over, the base of Bear Mtn. was transformed into a jib rider’s wonderland.
With countless wienies in attendance and 130 tons of ice trucked in, chopped, screwed, and spread, spectators from all over Southern California were treated to handrail destruction, discounted season passes, SPY’s version of Duck Hunt, hand-drawn mustaches and product tosses.
SPY’s Japanese ambassador Uma Abe thought he was here for a hot dog eating contest, but had no problem devouring the rails instead. Uma may have fallen short of getting a piece of the $15,000 prize purse, but he attacked the course with style and a smile and most importantly kept his buns off the handrails.

Transworld Snow caught up with Eero Niemela after his video part just dropped in People productions new movie “Good Look”. So you should take a look, Eero is very easy on the eyes.
This past thursday, we loaded up the SPY RV with Eero Niemela and a group of friends from all over the world and headed up to check out Eero’s new part in People’s newest movie “Good Look”. The RV filled to capacity with some real characters including fellow snowboarders Austin Smith, Curtis Ciszek, Brian Fox and the legendary Scotty Wittlake. If you’ve ever hung in the northwest, you know these boys are known to bring an exceptionally good time, and this night didn’t disappoint. The ride up was one filled with smiles, laughter, road sodas, and wizard staffs - the perfect equation for memorable fun. Oh, and did I mention we were going to the Oakley headquarters? That’s right, the SPY RV, loaded with the best of the best, was making their way to Oakley. After a grand entrance consisting of hand shakes, high fives, and more adult beverages, the movies began. Eero’s part was insane and of course we had a blast and showed everyone that we know how to party. We topped it all off with a massive team order at in n out, courtesy of a good friend, and sent it into double double bliss.. Thanks boys for a great time, and congrats Eero for another killer video part.
SPY is proud have two of our boys featured in the Curt Morgan and Travis Rice’s newest cinema experience, The Art of Flight, featuring Travis Rice and a list of the best snowboarders in the world traveling to the ends of the earth and pushing the boundaries of snowboarding as we know them. Eero Niemela and DCP both joined the Brain Farm crew last winter in these adventures and walked away with their foot print in what will become a movie that changed the perspective of snow cinematography.
