March 12th, 2010

For everyone who doesn’t know, our huge winter boot camp is taking place up at Powder Cowboy. We flew into Montana yesterday, and then drove up into the land of the white north aka Canada. After a two hour drive, we meet the crew at PC and,, well just jumped right into the swing of things. Here are some photos to entertain.

Anaheim 2 Supercross

January 26th, 2010

After having 4 solid days of rain fall in southern california anyone would have anticipated a muddy track for A2. I had mud goggles ready for the conditions but the track crew did an amazing job and the track was in perfect condition!

Tommy Searle was looking good until he went down in the second qualifying practice and injured his shoulder. He had it checked out on site by the asterisk medical crew and it did not appear broken. Tommy tried to race the heat race but could not hold on and was forced to sit out the race. Tommy says he has had it checked out this week by his doctor and there is no major problem but he will have to take a few days off to heal up. He will try to ride later this week to see if he can compete this weekend in San Francisco.

Kevin Windham looked great in practice and had the 5th fastest lap time heading into the night. Kevin rode an amazing race in the main event and was turning some of the fastest lap times and finished 5th place edging out some of the top up and coming riders. Kevin says he feels good and is looking forward to each race and wants to be back on that podium soon.

Nick Wey finished 13th on the night and is only 5 points out of the top ten. Nick is working on a few things with his bike setup and expect to be in the top ten soon.

Grant Langston finished 16th. He says he is happy to be back racing and is working hard to get back to the front of the pack after not even riding for 2 years.

This weekends race will be in San Francisco and it is expected to rain.

Evan Thompson finals

January 15th, 2010

Katin Pro Am Jan 14-15 2010 at Huntington Beach CA northside of the Pier.

This contest dates back to 1977 and always has been a 2 day event. Kelly Slater, Tom Curren, Shaun Thompson and Sunny Garcia are some of the contest past winners of the Katin Pro Am.

Spy’’s Evan Thompson from Jax Beach Florida was in California for a couple reasons. He was here for the last team practice before the PacSun US team headed off to New Zealand to particpate in the Quiksilver ISA World Junior Surfing Championship and to surf in the Katin Pro Am Team Challenge representing the Surfing America team.

Evan is a well known contest grinder who does not make very many mistakes and has a knack for getting the job done. At 17 years old Evan was easily the youngest competitor in this years Katin Pro Am final. In his efforts to get that 4th place finish Evan took down some very seasoned vet proving himself to be an up and coming competitive surfer to watch out for.

Congrats Evan on your 4th palce finish and an early Happy Birthday to you too!

Check back for a short video piece on the Kantin Pro Am and Evan’s surfing.

DC ride day at Pala Raceway

December 10th, 2009

DC shoes held a big ride day out at Pala Raceway in Pala Ca yesterday. They had all of their mx team riders out for photo sessions and even held a road to recovery  charity poker tournament later that night.

Jeremy McGrath was out for the day ripping the outdoor track and throwing down some big whips on the freestyle ramp. It really is awesome to see Jeremy still has it after all these years and can still get down on a dirt bike. Jeremy has been wearing the new Klutch goggle and loves them! Recently signed SPY team rider Tommy Searle was out ripping some laps and trying out the sweet new line of goggles. Tommy is a super cool kid from Great Britain and is stoked to be part of the SPY team. Tommy will also be wearing the new Klutch goggle. Check some of the photos I got on the day.9i9d32521img_2068img_2083img_2071
