On May 13-15 was the Volcom VQS Championships. The 3 day event was filled with international surfers and the water was flairing hard. Airs, throw tais and ridiculouss maneuvers were being displayed in front of the beach-goers at 54th Street Newport Beach CA. When the contest ended the 2 Spy surfers that rose to the top were Cody Thompson placing 4th Pro Am division and Parker Coffin placing 2nd in the airshow division.

The Vans Pier Classic was held on March 25-28 at Huntington Beach CA. There was fun surf throughout the event and the beaches were hot and filled with spring breakers who enjoying the surfing and the great weather.
Ben Bourgeois, Mike Losness, Tyler Newton, Nick Rupp, Magnum Martinez, Cody and Evan Thompson, Nathan and Ivan Florence were the Spy team riders that came to compete in the Vans Pier Classic.
The Spy one surfer who was really inform for this event was Tyler Newton. Tyler lost in the WQS quarterfinals due to an interference call but made it up by ripping his way into the Pro Junior final where he eventually finished in 4th place.

June 6-7, 2009 ASP Grade 3 Pro Junior Arnette All Day Antics held at Newport Beach 56th Street.
The contest had contestable chest high surf throughout the entire event. The podium held 2 Spy surfers Cody Thompson at 4th place and Cory Arrambide holding down the 3rd place spot. Luke Davis narrowly missed the podium by placing 3rd in the semi finals.
This is Cory and Cody’s best finish this season thus far. This result puts Cory into the 4th place spot in the overall ratings while Luke Davis is 2nd overall.
