Mammoth Opening Weekend!

November 15th, 2010

This past weekend was Mammoth’s Official opening weekend. We rounded up the crew, loaded up the van and started heading north towards the land of front boards and pelvis thrusts. We had a pit stop in L.A. to grab the myth, the man, the legend  Louie Vito so he could join this motley crew. After an action packed ride up which consisted of Louie stinking out the van for 6 hours, we made it up to Mammoth, checked into our condo, started the festivities that would continue through out the weekend.

The next morning we woke up early. The mountain air  was crispy, with a slight chill but the blue bird sky and the warmth of the sun created the perfect temperature to hit the slopes. We had to take a quick stop at P3 to drop off some posters and flyers for the huge event on saturday, and also grab Hendo some bindings for those massive dogs he calls feet. 30 min later with one more stop at the Mammoth Unbound office to slap hi fives, we were on the chair lift getting ready to take the first decent of the season.

The park was on point, with some new ledge-box features, some gaps and small fun jumps. It was the perfect level of riding to kick off the winter. Louie and the whole crew were dropping hammers left and right.

After the long day of shredding, and a amazing hot tub session, we hit the town for the Mammoth Unbound Magazine release party, and to get wild in the streets. The next morning was event day , so we headed up to the hill early, got our shred on, then headed to P3 for the SPY+ RV revealing. We had a huge BBQ in the parking lot of P3, where Trini was cooking up some amazing meats, Hendo was filming for the TV show, and Louie Vito was signing autographs for all of his fans. The guys from Transworld Snow stopped by to come and hi five, hang, cover the revealing and enjoy Trini’s fine meats.

Mammoth Opening Weekend

November 17th, 2009

This past weekend was Mammoth Mountains true opening weekend. We all know that they had a surprise opening back in October, but this was the opening weekend that was locked down in the schedule months ago. The night we got up there it had snowed a couple inches, so things were looking good. The top of the mountain was open, so you could take full top to bottom runs. Throughout the runs there was all types of step ups, hips, rock bonks, pole taps, then a mini park down forest trail with jibs and a mini double line of jumps. On saturday night there was one of the most inspiring art shows I have ever been to called “I am Snowboarding”. This was a tribute art show to our fallen friend Jeffy Anderson, who pasted away many years ago, but has never and will never be forgotten. The energy and passion that each piece put out was incredible. Billy Anderson and his mother Jane opened up the show by speaking about Jeffy, and soon after the tears were wiped away everyone enjoyed some wine, all the amazing art, and just the fact that everyone was celebrating Jeffy. All in all it was an amazing weekend filled with the cries of joy and laughter. A great kickoff to the season. I want to thank everyone who was a part of the “I am Snowboarding” show and Mammoth for a memorable weekend.

ROAD TRIP TO MAMMOTH…ROXY CHIX JAM

April 1st, 2009

The infamous Spy van made its 379 mile journey to check out the Roxy Chicken Jam at Mammoth Mountain March 27th-29th. Yes it does have flame tires. And yes its a sexy beast.

Myself and friends Nicki from Swell, Ashley from DC, and Ryan and Ross from the DC Film crew had a fun filled weekend of roadtrip meets spring pow pow shredding meets industry friends meets lighting sparklers meets Spy stickering meets free concert meets one good dance party. Enjoy…
