This past weekend kicked off the 10th Zumiez Couch Tour. The first two stops were in the greater northwest. The first stop being in Puyallup, Washington at the South Hill Mall. When I we arrived at the mall, the wind was chilly and the clouds looked dark and stormy, but that had not stopped a crowd of kids from showing up already and waiting to have the best day of their lives. The day started off with the Zumiez Best Foot Forward Am Series presented by Bones Wheels, and despite the rain delay, the young skaters destroyed the course, trying to make there mark and move onto the finals at the last couch tour stop in St. Paul, MN later this month. After that, the Fallen skate team jumped the course and proceeded to put on an amazing pro demo for all the kids at the event and everyone who was tuned in at home through the live web cast on the Zumiez couch tour site. Just when you thought the day could not get any better, Zumiez with one of the partners of the tour, Skull Candy, had two amazing bands on the main stage. Kandi Coded hailing from Seattle, was the first to rock the crowd and melt the faces off the everyone at home, the second was also a native band to the northwest coming from Gig Habor, Wa going by the name Basic Radio. Throughout out the day there was tons of great games and giveaways and the crowd grew from hundreds to thousands.

After the event was over we jumped on the road and headed south, the next day was the second stop in Portland, Or, so we had get down there to be ready to do it all over again. Waking up in Portland, you could smell the excitement of what the day was going to bring. We all regrouped and jumped in the car to get some coffee, well actually order 12 of the craziest coffee drinks you could ever possible order at a Starbucks, then made our way over to the event. Once again as we rolled in there was a crowd waiting for everything to start. The day started out with the BFF again, since Portland is known for their amazing skaters, the heats were stacked with insane young am skaters. After the skating, Kandi Coded once again tore up the stage, and then Zumiez had the Zero team for this stop to put on the pro demo, and what a demo it was. It may have been one of the best demos I have seen in person. After the demo, the finals of the BFF went down, crowning Steven Farmer as the winner and moving onto the grand finals in St. Paul. Basic Radio played in the later part of the afternoon, and kids were moshing and dancing practically beating each other up. All thought out the day all the partners were having give-aways and playing games with all the kids. I want to thank everyone who was in involved: Zumiez, Spy, Vestal, Transworld, New Era, Glamor Kill, Keep a Breast, Matador, EA Skate 3, Fuel Tv, Skull Candy, and Chipotle. The first wo stops where a success, stay tuned for the 10 other that are going to hit a town near you, we will be in San Jose, Salt Lake City, Denver, Garland, Katy, Baltimore, North Wales, Eatontown, Aurora, St. Paul.. Come stop by or tune in on zumiezcouchtour.com, and download the app to your iphone or ipod touch to watch the action live while you are on the run!
